Myndshift Group has been engaged by our client partner to recruit an experienced Project Manager/SSE with open-cut coal mining experience for their established project located in Central Queensland.

Reporting to the General Manager, you will be employed on a permanent full-time basis working a Monday to Friday roster. 

As Project Manager/SSE, you will be responsible for leading and supporting a multidisciplinary team, including Superintendents for Safety, HR, Maintenance, Production and Tech Services.

Your role will include:

• Team Leadership & Performance Management – Oversee, mentor, and develop operational leaders, ensuring effective team performance and alignment with business objectives.
• Operational Coordination – Plan, allocate, and manage resources to meet production, safety, and cost targets, while working closely with site leadership and stakeholders.
• Training & Development – Promote a culture of continuous learning by overseeing workforce training programs, competency development, and compliance with site and industry standards.
• Safety & Compliance – Drive a proactive safety culture, implementing and enforcing safety management systems to meet Queensland coal mining regulations.
• Stakeholder Engagement – Maintain strong relationships with the client and other key partners to align goals and ensure seamless operations.
• Financial & Contractual Awareness – Oversee cost control, operational budgets, and contractual obligations to drive efficiency and value.

Key Requirements

• Extensive experience in mine operations, technical services particularly open-cut coal mining, with proven site leadership expertise.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to manage a diverse workforce.
• Strong client relationship management experience 
• Knowledge of Queensland coal mining legislation and safety compliance
• Experience overseeing training, safety, and workforce development initiatives.
• Ability to liaise effectively with clients, senior management, and operational teams.
• Financial acumen and contractual awareness.
• SSE Ticket
