Family Assistant – Childcare & Household Support
Location: Uptown Kingston, NY
Employment Type: Part-time (30 hours/week) or Full-time (40 hours/week)
Compensation: $30–$35 per hour (based on experience and qualifications)
About the Family:
An adventurous, active family with two young daughters (ages 5 and 3) is seeking a caring, reliable Family Assistant to provide household management and childcare support. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with children, is highly organized, and is eager to contribute to a dynamic household.
Schedule:
Guaranteed hours with flexibility in scheduling (part-time or full-time available).
Sample schedule (subject to adjustment):
  

• Sunday: 1 PM – 6 PM
• Monday – Thursday: 2:30 PM – 7:30 PM
• Friday & Saturday: OFF

  
Primary Responsibilities:
Household Management:
  

• Maintain tidiness and organization in kitchen and children's spaces
• Reset toy/play areas
• Handle light laundry and organize children's clothing
• Water and care for houseplants
• Assist with miscellaneous errands, including:
    
  
  • Processing returns and packages
  • Picking up orders (e.g., Target)
  • Listing items on Marketplace
    

  
Food & Meal Support:
  

• Food prep to assist family meals
• Pack/prep school lunches
• Prepare breakfast components (e.g., cutting fruit, baking muffins)
• Support dinner prep (e.g., marinating proteins, chopping ingredients)
• Load/unload dishwasher and maintain clean counters
• Occasional grocery shopping and specialty item pickup

  
Childcare Support:
  

• School pickup (own vehicle required)
• Engage children in after-school activities to reduce screen time
• Plan and participate in playtime and outings
• Assist with dinner prep and clean-up
• Help prepare for the week ahead (laundry, checking backpacks, tidying family spaces)
• Sunday afternoon support for family preparation tasks

  
Qualifications & Skills:
  

• Experience with young children (preschool/toddler age) and sibling dynamics
• Ability to manage situations where both children need attention simultaneously
• Creative engagement in playtime while parents are home
• Calm and patient demeanor during emotional moments
• Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle
• Strong references required
