Kennedy Builders have operated across the South Island with the head office in Nelson region for over 30 years, offering total project management for residential and light commercial, whether a new build, minor addition or major renovation, insurance work or maintenance, Kennedy Builders has the experience and passion to complete all projects to the highest standard.
We are now looking for a Trade Qualified Builder (LBP Carpentry) to join our team as a Site Lead, taking responsibility for the day-to-day leadership and delivery of assigned projects across the Nelson Tasman region.
You'll work closely with the Project Manager to:
- Lead the day-to-day delivery of residential building, repair and maintenance projects
- Coordinate builders, apprentices, labourers and subcontractors on site
- Ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently and to programme
- Monitor site progress and proactively resolve issues
- Maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships
- Mentor apprentices and support development of less experienced team members
- Coordinate materials, equipment and site resources
- Deliver high-quality workmanship while maintaining Kennedy Builders standards.
This role is ideal for an experienced builder who enjoys leading from the front and wants to further develop their site leadership capabilities within a well-established and respected construction business.

You will bring:
- Trade qualification in Carpentry and current LBP licence
- Solid experience in residential construction
- Ability to work independently and contribute to site coordination
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Sound understanding of Health & Safety practices
- Good organisation and problem-solving skills
- A positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Proven ability to lead and coordinate site teams
- Experience mentoring apprentices or junior team members
- Confidence dealing with clients and stakeholders
- Flexibility to travel as projects require throughout the region
