The Asylum Seekers Centre (ASC) is seeking a Business Development Coordinator to work closely with our Employment Services team to increase opportunities for people seeking asylum to find meaningful employment. This is a newly created position and while the focus will be on working to build a network of employers to support employment for people seeking asylum, this role is not your everyday business development role and is very much person centred. 
 
The key aspects of the role include:

• Identifying new business opportunities, generating leads, and developing employer engagement strategies.
• Stakeholder relationship development and management
• Conducting market research to identify potential growth areas and develop strategies to enter new markets.
• Effective advocacy and communication to clearly convey how ASC employment services can benefit clients and address any concerns to secure new employer partners
• Working with a small number of clients to achieve employment goals using a person-centred, strengths based, trauma informed approach.
• Contribute to job placement and post placement support by working closely with clients and employer partners to achieve positive outcomes

This is a fixed term (up to 2 years), full-time position working 38 hours per week based in Newtown. 
 
Selection Criteria
 
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:
 
Essential selection criteria:

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in business, marketing, recruitment and/or relevant industry experience.
• Experience in recruitment, business development or sales roles.
• Proven ability to generate leads
• Strong demonstrated stakeholder relationship management skills
• Experience working with people seeking asylum, refugees and/or migrant communities
• Effective communication and negotiation abilities
• Experience in market research and strategic planning.
• Experience coordinating events and promotional activities.
• Proficiency with CRM tools and sales software.

Desirable selection criteria:

• Lived experience as a refugee or person seeking asylum
• Previous experience working with employment services
• Familiarity with local market trends and networking opportunities
