We have a great opportunity to join our ASC as our new People & Culture Manager. The People & Culture Manager leads the organisation through all HR, WHS and volunteering activities.
 
This role is part of ASC's Leadership team, reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer. This is a generalist role and has primary responsibility for all areas of HR and WHS, with a particular focus on psycho-social safety and support for staff and volunteers.
 
This role is full-time, based in Newtown, with some flexibility to work from home on occasion.
 
Responsibilities

• Provide leadership, support and expert advice on all human resources & work health and safety activities across ASC
• Ensuring our people strategy addresses wellbeing, role clarity, supervision, performance feedback, informal and formal peer support, retention, onboarding, and succession planning.
• Increasing the provision of learning and development opportunities for staff.
• Developing our people's skills, strengths, and areas of interest regarding the ASC's work to facilitate cross-functional training.
• Developing effective means of assessing our progress against staff-related objectives to provide transparency for all levels of the organisation - board, executive and staff.
• Oversee the volunteer program at ASC to ensure high levels of engagement and retention, allowing ASC volunteers to meaningfully contribute to the organisation

Selection Criteria
 
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:
 
Essential

• At least five years of demonstrated experience in a HR management role, ideally with some exposure to a standalone role and a not for profit environment. 
• Relevant tertiary qualification in HR, Business or a related field.
• Ability to build highly effective multi-disciplinary teams through managing, motivating, supporting and inspiring staff and volunteers in a complex and challenging environment.
• A commitment to support wellbeing and the development of a positive culture across teams including staff and volunteers. 
• Experience in managing and enhancing the employee life-cycle, from recruitment to onboarding, retention, performance reviews and development. 
• Demonstrated experience reviewing, re-engineering and implementing systems, processes and procedures. 
• Experience managing a risk process and a thorough knowledge of workplace health and safety laws, compliance and implementation and the ability to lead the organisation in having a safety focus appropriate for a dynamic community sector setting.
• Strong skills in supporting learning and development to ensure essential skill levels are supported as well as personal growth for individual team members.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, written and oral skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail, organisational and time management skills.
• Understanding of the principles of change management to help others adapt to change.
• Commitment to results; a "can-do" mindset with an emphasis on accountability.
• Problem-solving, project management and creative resourcefulness
• Experience in an executive or substantial management position. 

Desirable

• Lived experience as a refugee or person seeking asylum
• A strong understanding of issues relating to people seeking asylum from a human rights perspective and ability to address those in implementing ASC strategy.
• Experience managing and developing a Human Resources Information System (HRIS), ideally Employment Hero.
• Experience in an organisation with a significant volunteer workforce.
