Hours of Work:

• 40 Hours per Week 
• Monday- Friday (Weekends are expected during peak trading times to meet business needs)
• Must be flexible with working hours / shifts in order to accommodate plant operation.

 
Purpose of the job:

• Ensure that waste is adequately managed inside and outside the factory, is properly segregated and disposed of; general housekeeping duties on the grounds of the factory.

Main area of responsibility:

• Take responsibility for the sanitary upkeep of internal and external waste bins, aligning with our site food safety and hygiene standards. Ensure all waste bins within the production and site areas are emptied regularly to maintain cleanliness and operational efficiency.  Always ensuring availability throughout site. Internal and external.
• Strictly adhere to Mallon’s "clean as you go" policies, maintaining excellent housekeeping standards to support a safe and contamination-free food production environment.
• Execute effective waste segregation and oversee the safe removal of different waste streams from designated zones in accordance with food industry standards ensuring the integrity of site food safety controls.
• Operate waste handling equipment—including compactors and balers—safely and efficiently, following all training and operational protocols.
• Perform scheduled washdowns of external areas using power washing equipment, meeting all site-specific Technical SOP requirements as per agreed frequencies and standards. Ensure site is maintained in an hygienic condition consistently.
• Follow best practices in Health & Safety during the handling and transport of waste and reusable materials, especially in active production zones.
• Keep pallets, plastic trays, and reusable containers clean, well-stored, and ready for use and promptly report any defects or hygiene concerns to management.
• At peak production times (ie Christmas), provide support to Goods Inwards Intake with the movement of stock between storage locations.

Key Attributes:

• Must be able to complete the above requirements with or without a reasonable accommodation.
• Good level of verbal and written communication skills in the English language
• Demonstrate the ability to work on your own initiative whilst working as part of a team striving to achieve high levels of customer service
• Must be flexible with working hours / shifts to accommodate company operations.
• Be willing to participate in relevant training as the company requires.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Proven experience in a similar environment
• Forklift and PPT licenses are desirable

Job Type: Permanent
Hourly: €13.60 per hour increasing to €14.50 after successful completion of probationary period.
