A substantial fourth-generation family-owned farming business near Mungindi is seeking an experienced Irrigation Manager. Spanning 25,000 hectares across irrigated cropping, dryland cropping and cattle, the business is progressive, professionally managed and committed to sustainable agriculture. This key role reports directly to the General Manager and becomes available following the incumbent's retirement after 11 years.
The position is responsible for 1,850 hectares of laser-levelled, furrow-irrigated country across four farms. Cotton is the predominant crop, rotated with wheat and chickpeas. You will lead a capable team of four to six people while remaining actively involved in day-to-day irrigation management.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and manage all irrigation activities across 1,850 hectares
- Lead, supervise and develop a team of four to six personnel
- Drive precise water budgeting, irrigation scheduling and efficient water use
- Coordinate irrigation requirements with the broader cropping program
- Maintain high standards across fields, channels and irrigation infrastructure
About You - At least four to five years' irrigation experience, predominantly in cotton
- Proven ability to supervise and lead a small team
- Sound technical knowledge of modern irrigation systems and scheduling
- Physically capable and willing to take a hands-on role
- Reliable, practical and comfortable working within a professional farming operation
