Client
Our client is a substantial livestock and agricultural organisation in north-west Western Australia. Its portfolio includes a major pastoral enterprise, livestock export and feeding operations, and emerging opportunities in irrigated agriculture, natural capital, carbon and value-added agribusiness.
Role
Reporting directly to the CEO, the Chief Agricultural Officer will provide strategic and executive leadership across the agricultural portfolio. The role will drive commercial and operational performance, strengthen governance, integrate the portfolio and develop new growth opportunities.
The successful candidate will lead two General Managers and work with Boards, government, industry, investors, research organisations, customers and regional stakeholders.
Role Responsibilities
- Lead strategy, performance and integration across the agricultural portfolio.
- Optimise pastoral, livestock export and feeding operations for safety, productivity and profitability.
- Provide commercial, operational, risk and performance reporting to the CEO and Boards.
- Assess growth opportunities across agriculture, carbon, natural capital and value-added processing.
- Develop strategic partnerships and build a high-performance, culturally safe workforce.
Requirements - At least 15 years of senior experience in agriculture, pastoral operations, livestock, or agribusiness.
- Proven leadership of complex operating businesses or multi-asset portfolios.
- Strong financial, commercial, strategic planning and business development capability.
- Substantial experience reporting to Boards and executive teams.
- Excellent leadership, negotiation, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Northern Australian pastoral, livestock export, feedlot or depot experience will be highly regarded.
- Experience with Aboriginal organisations, Traditional Owners, Indigenous governance or Native Title is advantageous.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications are desirable. A driver's licence and National Police Clearance are required.
Location & Remuneration The role is based in Broome and is offered as a full-time, two-year fixed-term appointment. An attractive executive package will be negotiated, with eligible salary packaging and potential remote-area benefits.
