THE COMPANY
The property is owned by a well-capitalised institutional investor with a long-term investment horizon and forms part of a professionally managed agricultural investment platform. The asset has been under consistent ownership and professional management since 2013, providing a stable operating environment and ongoing investment in the business.
Located 45 mins from Darwin NT, the operation comprises approximately 150 hectares of mango orchards with more than 55,000 trees, supported by a fully integrated on-farm packing facility capable of processing up to 400 bins per day. During the harvest period, the business employs a workforce exceeding 160 staff, reflecting the scale and commercial nature of the enterprise.
THE ROLE
The Farm Manager is responsible for the overall operational and financial performance of the orchard, ensuring strong production outcomes while maintaining disciplined cost control and efficient harvest operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage all orchard operations across a 55,000 tree mango plantation;
Deliver production and pack-out targets across the harvest program;
Oversee irrigation scheduling and water-use efficiency;
Manage pest and disease programs to maintain crop health;
Lead and coordinate a large permanent and seasonal workforce;
Oversee harvest and packing operations to maximise quality and throughput;
Maintain farm infrastructure, irrigation systems, machinery and equipment;
Manage operating budgets and ensure compliance with WHS, environmental and food safety standards.
CANDIDATE PROFILE We are seeking a commercially minded horticulture professional with strong orchard management capability and proven leadership experience. Candidates will ideally bring:
10+ years’ experience in commercial horticulture;
Experience managing permanent tree crops such as mangoes, citrus, avocados or macadamias;
Proven capability managing large seasonal labour programs;
Strong understanding of irrigation systems and orchard agronomy;
Sound operational and financial management capability.
Tertiary qualifications in agriculture, horticulture or agribusiness will be well regarded.
