Claims Manager / Team Lead | Gold Coast | Hybrid
 
HAYLO People are specialists in General Insurance recruitment. We are partnering with a high-growth, reputable brokerage on the Gold Coast to appoint a Claims Manager / Team Lead to head up their expanding claims division.

This is a newly created growth hire for a strategic claims professional who enjoys the balance of being technically "hands-on" while mentoring a high-performing team. You will lead a group of three experienced claims handlers who are technically sound but would benefit from a leader to provide strategic oversight and handle complex escalations.

The role:

• Lead and mentor a team of three experienced claims professionals, providing technical guidance and acting as a sounding board for complex files
• Manage your own boutique portfolio of larger, more complex claims with a focus on commercial property, strata, and commercial motor
• Act as the senior point of reference for the team, stepping in to assist with strategic decision-making and high-level escalations
• Advocate for clients during difficult negotiations with insurers and loss adjusters to ensure optimal settlement outcomes
• Identify opportunities to refine and streamline claims processes as the department continues to grow
• Foster a collaborative and high-standard team environment where hard work is recognized and rewarded

About you:

• Proven experience in a senior claims role or team leadership, ideally with a focus on commercial lines
• Deep technical knowledge across General Insurance, particularly within Commercial Strata and Property
• A natural mentor who enjoys providing "big picture" advice and support to an already capable team
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to deconstruct complex policy wordings and find solutions
• Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with a focus on high-quality client service
• A proactive, "lead by example" approach that fits into a high-performance but supportive culture

Nice to have:

• Prior claims experience specifically within an insurance brokerage environment
