About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Senior Disability Support Team Leader to oversee two Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) properties. The case load is a combination of clients living with dementia, acquired brain injury (ABI), psychosocial disabilities and other complex care requirements. You will have experience supporting people with complex clinical (high needs), mental health conditions, physical disabilities and challenging behaviours. This role reports to an Area Manager who supports and trains you.
In this role you will be expected to complete 3- 4 days per week of administration with the remainder focused on direct care of our participants and supervision of the Disability Support Workers across both SDA properties. The role includes on-call availability and driving between the two sites.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and support team members across both SDA properties, escalating any concerns to the Area Manager.
- Ensure the environment is one in which team members can perform their duties effectively and efficiently.
- Apply strong clinical knowledge to support complex disability, both behavioural and physical.
- Monitor on-site roster changes such as staff swaps, liaising with the Rostering team to resolve any urgent changes.
- Assist the Area Manager to build team rosters 4 to 6 weeks in advance.
- Ensure client care plans meet the needs of the client and are followed by all support workers, including Epilepsy Management Plans (EMP), Medication Management Plans (MMP), Behaviour Support Plans (BSP) and other support plans.
- Build relationships with key stakeholders of the participant.
- Ensure houses operate in compliance with relevant legislation, regulations and company policy and procedures.
- Ensure high quality record keeping and completeness of internal documents at the house.
- Participate in the on-call roster.
- Travel and drive between SDA properties as required.
- Provide in-home care assisting and enabling participants with daily tasks including meal preparation, personal care and administering medication.
About You:
- Minimum 2 plus years’ experience supervising or leading a large team of disability support workers, with sound leadership experience.
- NDIS experience essential.
- Demonstrated knowledge of behavioural and complex care, covering both physical and psychosocial needs.
- Experience across a range of disabilities including challenging behaviours, mental health, dementia, ABI, psychosocial disabilities, cerebral palsy, brain injury, PEG feeding and manual handling.
- Qualifications in nursing or clinical complex care experience desirable but not mandatory.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with both participants and team members.
- Empathy for the challenges faced by individuals with disabilities and a commitment to person-centred practices. O
- Organisational skills, a proactive mindset and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Australian Driver’s Licence and access to your own car (required given travel between properties).
