This family owned business has grown up an is now corporatising, from organic growth and self funding for many years, the group has turbo charged operations by taking on a bit of debt to leverage their IP and assets onto the global stage, after owning significant market share in Australia. With a full time staff of less than 50 and revenue climbing toward $200m, it's time to ratchet up a level. A recent investment in systems (hard work has been done for you), decisions based on data, and young/energetic executive team kicking goals make this an exciting place to be. With an AI enabled, robotic plant, capability is finally catching up with demand and further expansion and another plant is in the works.
Your New Role
Whilst CFO is a traditional title, this opportunity is anything but. Given the small finance team (FC + 2 x Bookkeepers) that is fairly self sufficient, your key role is scaling for growth, ensuring margins are protected, handling financing/debt matters, being the key partner to the CEO for negotiations, customer engagement, contracts, extensions, and assists with operational matters.
As the CFO you will oversee financial systems, governance, tax, risk, financial controls, compliance, and investor relations. You will help upgrade board reporting, financial nous throughout the business, and optimise working capital. You will need to get your hands dirty here, owning the integrated 3 statement financial model (income, balance sheet, cash flow), so expert excel is essential.
Your Profile
The Company is beyond the initial early stages and now a clear medium sized enterprise chasing sustainable growth through geographic expansion. Your experience should demonstrate expertise in manufacturing environments, helping companies grow sustainably, and that you are happy to be hands on with whatever the business throws at you. You prefer working in small leadership teams where you can be across it all and thrive in a team environment with no politics or silos - One Team. "Cruisy, yet switched on" is quite the human side of the brief, but you know what they mean. Nothing too hard, easy to work with, gets on with it, and knows the numbers inside and out.
Other Notes
- 4 days per week in office, 1 from home is the current state of play
- International travel, a couple times per year, for a couple weeks at a time is essential to do the rounds with international customers along with CEO, COO.
- Initially the role will offer salary and STI, after 12 months in the role, discussions can be had relating to profit share and other LTI's to reflect your contributions.
- The work is being done by a part time CFO consultant currently, a handover will be provided.
- This is an industrial environment, layman's terms, rapport building with operators and success in blue collar environments is essential for consideration.
- The ideal scenario is a very long term role 10+ years, consistent with the very low staff turnover, and high rate of long service leave, they treat people right and grow them.
