Your New Role
Supporting a fledgling finance team, your role may have a 'senior financial analyst' title, but will be incredibly broad given the start up nature and size of the company. There is no beginning nor end to your role - you do whatever the day brings you. That said, your first 6-12 months will see you bringing the systems and processes up to best practice, putting in controls fit for purpose, aligning to accounting standards. This includes any adjustments required, reviewing data and current processes for any upgrades or changes required. You'll support the CFO, Financial Controller and FP&A Manager in an immediate transformation of the finance function.
Alongside the compliance, systems and reporting required, you'll be developing financial reporting, data analytics, streamlining data flow, including internal management reporting, board reporting and external reporting requirements.
Once the initial upgrades are embedded, you will settle into your FP&A style role, supporting commercial activities, strategy execution (SWOT, competitor analysis, pricing, margins, and more), and operational analysis (insights, recommendations, business cases, investment decision support and more)
Your Profile
This is the best part - you don't have to be a senior analyst today to get this role. You are actually a rising star and can develop the FP&A skill set on the job once you've nailed the compliance, reporting, scaling projects. In order to deliver on the first 12 months of deliverables and audit background in a top 10 firm is essential - minimum 3 years and CA qualification. Beyond that, you probably have 1-3 post qualified CA experience in financial accounting or management accounting positions and this is likely your 3rd move in your career. You've done your time in public practice, you've got a taste of corporate/client side work, and now you are ready to make your mark and grow towards that CFO path you've dreamed about since your first accounting course.
