Your New Role
This is no head office FC compliance role, this FC role is highly operational, in the business unit - your focus is on the business and driving performance, planning and reporting - shared services handles the compliance for you. Reporting to the divisional CFO, and leading a geographically spread, medium sized team of highly qualified management accountants & finance business partners, your leadership will take the team and finance function to the next level. Overall, your business unit is responsible well over $1Bn in revenue and climbing!
Your Key Deliverables in the first 12 months:
- Develop reporting for the division with automations, clear, concise, timely and accurate for group HQ to consolidate.
- Improve Cash Flow, monitoring debtors closely, driving efficiency in inventory management, and regular cash flow forecasting.
- Keep your growing team engaged, challenged, and retained during this period of exceptional growth. Additional hiring of talent will be required as new roles come on line and your remit expands.
- Serve as 2IC to the BU CFO as required and stand in when not available for critical executive meetings.
- Partner closely with a wide variety of stakeholders in operations, commercial, corporate, accounting, procurement, inventory/warehouse, and more.
- Ensure your accounts are compliant with current AASB and IFRS accounting standards for head office.
- Establish your reputation within the business as someone who delivers and you'll be in the wings for the next BU CFO role that comes up across the group.
Your Profile
There are two types of profiles that will get the attention of the executives in charge of hiring.
1. Rising star, and up a comer, probably finance manager or principal management accountant, who has been finance business partner in at least a $500m company or larger. This includes supervision, or direct management of qualified management accountants in operational (not corporate) roles. Experience in heavy industry, mining, oil & gas, or other extractive industry is strongly preferred (moving dirt). Given the seniority and view to executive over the medium term, a minimum of 10-12 years experience is essential.
2. The lateral mover, you've established yourself as a credible finance manager or financial controller but may be capped/limited where you are for a variety of reasons. You are looking for career progression, a growth company, and can make a commercial impact on the business. You have had 1-3 managerial finance roles under your belt, ideally business facing, or if coming from medium enterprise - broad FC roles including operational influence and highly commercial focus.
Additional Notes
Travel: Due to the geographic spread of operations and your team, travel 1 week per month across Australia is to be expected.
Qualifications: A CA, CPA or CIMA is essential for consideration.
Remuneration: This is a big company, strict bandings, the target is $220k+Super +/- 5% variation based on your experience vs brief.
Tenure/Loyalty: Our Client is looking for long term development, they are hiring a future CFO, not just a financial controller for today, your work history will demonstrate consistent internal promotions and reasonable tenure with each employer.
