Your RFP: Procure yourself a new position for 2026! Become the first ever head of procurement in a highly successful private company.
Your New Company
Arguably one of Perth's most underrated yet highest performing homegrown success stories. Founders are still leading the company decades later, long tenure is the norm amongst managerial and executive ranks, with a number of examples of people being promoted many times over the years due to the consistent growth. From SME, to medium sized, to large formidable industry player, the journey has been spectacular and the focus has always been on the people who work here. A culture as good as it gets in Perth - common sense, flexibility, support, training, profitability/stability, doing the right thing, and organised with superb governance track record. Toss in CBD location, gorgeous offices (when you do turn up there), one heck of a Christmas party and casual dress / dress for the day culture.
Your New Role
We've recruited many procurement roles before, but this one is special. Working in a medium sized company you will enjoy a broad, highly visible role. You will run procurement, facilities and office administration with full integration! Meaning you have complete ownership of the procure to pay process! Yes, it starts and stops with you, you own it all. You will be supported by a considerable sized team, who is also talented and tenured. The procurement department reports up through the finance function.
The traditional brief applies - strategic buying, supplier optimisation, relationship building internally & externally, exhibit customer service excellence across the group, ensure proper governance, ensure policies/procedures are up to date, have correct delegations, ensure stakeholder satisfaction, work within agreed SLA's, addressing any issues and resolving them ASAP. Arrive each day with a positive attitude, driving continuous improvement, looking after your team - coaching, mentoring, provide training, support and encouragement. You'll also oversee major contracts ensuring appropriate terms and fit for purpose agreements.
Your Profile
This senior level yet hands on procurement manager role requires a good breadth and depth of exposure across categories, knowledge of contracts, best practice, superior negotiation skills, stakeholder engagement skills at the highest levels, team leadership with proven examples of taking your team on the journey previously, and a continuous improvement mindset.
You can set yourself apart by having a CIPS qualification - showing your dedication to the procurement profession. Other Formal education in lieu is always valued and the more relevant the better. Ideally you'll have played a large role in a successful procurement transformation program/project. Be prepared to discuss the value you've provided stakeholders in the past and how you develop relationships as a procurement business partner. Bonus points for any prior oversight of facilities management.
Realistically, you'll need at minimum 8 years in procurement, likely 10+ to be at the level and experience required to perform the role from day 1.
