About the Role
 
We are currently seeking a skilled Mechanical Fitter to join a busy and growing engineering workshop in Norwich. This is a hands-on role where you will carry out repairs, servicing, and fault finding on a wide range of industrial rotating equipment, including pumps, gearboxes, and motors.
As a Mechanical Fitter, you'll work within a close-knit team of engineers dedicated to delivering high-quality work and reliable service. With excellent training, progression opportunities, and overtime available, this role offers long-term career stability and growth.
After a successful 9-week probationary period during the temporary contract, the Mechanical Fitter position will transition to a permanent role with full company benefits.
 
Key Responsibilities

• Carry out mechanical repairs and overhauls on motors, pumps, gearboxes, and other rotating machinery.
• Diagnose faults and replace worn or damaged components as needed.
• Perform basic electrical testing on AC/DC motors (training provided).
• Follow engineering drawings and specifications accurately.
• Work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Take part in the on-call rota on a voluntary basis.
• Travel to customer sites when required (company vehicle provided).

What We're Looking For

• NVQ Level 3 / ONC / HNC / City & Guilds in Mechanical Engineering or time-served equivalent.
• Proven practical experience as a Mechanical Fitter or within a similar mechanical maintenance role.
• Knowledge of repairing rotating equipment such as motors, gearboxes, and pumps.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and use basic workshop machinery.
• Full UK driving licence (essential).
• Positive attitude, good communication skills, and strong attention to detail.

Salary: £15.77–£17.37 per hour (£31,981–£35,209 per annum, depending on experience)
