We're currently seeking Fixed Term Electrical Technicians experienced in Linespeople, Protection Technician or HV Technicians to join our team for new opportunities in Western Australia’s Pilbara, South West, South Australia and Victoria.
These roles are ideal for someone with an Electrical trade background experienced in the above-mentioned fields and willing to potentially work a Fly in Fly out roster.
Depending on experience and qualifications you will be responsible for testing, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical protection systems to ensure the safe, reliable, and compliant operation, safe operation of high-voltage and low-voltage power networks and plant, isolation, switching, and restoration of high-voltage electrical networks and plant in accordance with approved procedures, safety rules, and regulatory requirements, construction, maintenance, repair, and operation of overhead and underground electrical distribution and/or transmission assets.

What you’ll do
High Voltage Technician – H.V Switching
- Perform high-voltage switching operations as per 5.18 MISR 1995, isolation, earthing, and restoration of electrical plant and networks in accordance with authorised switching schedules and operating procedures.
- Prepare, issue, control, and cancel access authorities, permits, and switching documentation in line with safety rules.
- Verify network status, conduct risk assessments, and implement appropriate safety controls prior to and during switching operations.
- Operate and monitor HV equipment including circuit breakers, isolators, earth switches, protection systems, and control systems (local and remote).
- Troubleshoot system faults and malfunctions,
- Comply with all Work Health and Safety (WHS), electrical safety, environmental, and organisational policies and procedures.
Electrical Linespeople - Construct, maintain, upgrade, and repair overhead and underground power lines, poles, crossarms, conductors, insulators, and associated equipment.
- Perform live line and/or de‑energised work in accordance with authorisations, procedures, and safety rules.
- Install and maintain distribution and transmission plant including transformers, switches, regulators, and ancillary equipment.
- Identify, assess, and control hazards associated with working at heights, near live electrical apparatus, and in public areas.
- Respond to planned outages, faults, and emergency situations to restore supply in a safe and timely manner.
- Liaise effectively with control rooms, supervisors, HV switchers, contractors, and team members to coordinate work activities.
Protection Technician - Install, test, commission, maintain, and fault-find protection relays, control systems, metering, and associated secondary systems.
- Conduct routine and non-routine testing of protection schemes in accordance with standards, procedures, and test plans.
- Analyse protection performance, identify defects or non-conformances, and recommend corrective actions.
- Assist with commissioning of new plant, network augmentations, and protection upgrades.
- Interpret protection philosophies, schematics, wiring diagrams, relay settings, and technical specifications.
- Prepare and maintain accurate records, test reports, settings files, and asset management documentation.
- Support outage planning and coordinate with control rooms, HV switchers, engineers, and field crews to ensure protection systems are fit for service.
- Analyse and troubleshoot protection system faults and malfunctions
- Repair and maintain distribution and pole top devices
What you’ll have - Accredited Electrical Qualification
- High Voltage Switching Operations – H.V training and Switching experience (Required for HV Switchers).
- Current A-Grade Electrical Workers License
- Demonstrated experience in protection testing, commissioning, or maintenance of electrical power systems (Protection Technicians)
- Experience in using relay testing equipment such as power system simulators, as well as primary test equipment. (Protection Technician)
- Certificate III in Power Systems Distribution or Transmission (or equivalent trade qualification) (Linesman).
- Current electrical line worker authorisations (Linesman).
- Construction white card
- High-risk work licences
- Current First aid and CPR certificates
- Sound knowledge of electrical safety rules, WHS legislation, and safe work practices.
- Willingness to travel.
