We’re looking for a 12-month fixed term Assistant Accountant to join our Power Services Finance team. In this role, you’ll support day-to-day financial operations and month-end processes across reconciliations, fixed assets and leases, expenses and credit cards, timesheets, and compliance activities—helping ensure accurate reporting, strong controls, and smooth team operations. This role can be based in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane or Perth.

This role sits within in our Power Services division which provides operations and maintenance services to over 30 power generation assets across Australia. What you’ll do
- Perform daily bank reconciliations, including receipt journals for debtor receipts and general journals for payroll transactions
- Support month-end accounting activities, including allocation journals, prepayments, and accruals, debtors and WIP reconciliations
- Assist with monthly balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of reconciling items.
- Manage fixed assets, including acquisitions, monthly depreciation, maintenance of the asset register, and disposals.
- Manage the IFRS 16 lease system, including creation of new leases, processing amendments, and terminations.
- Process employee expenses, credit cards and timesheets, ensuring compliance with policy.
- Assist with payroll tax, BAS, FBT and statutory reporting requirements.
- Provide operational finance support, mailbox management and ad hoc assistance to the Finance team.
What you’ll have - Degree-qualified in Accounting, Finance or Commerce with 2–4 years’ experience in a similar role
- Strong reconciliation skills with high attention to detail
- Experience using ERP systems and intermediate to advanced Excel
- Well organised, able to manage competing priorities, with clear communication skills and a collaborative approach
Desirable - Exposure to IFRS 16 and statutory reporting or audit processes
- Experience in a large, complex or project-based environment
- Progress toward CA or CPA qualification
