- Temporary/Casual Position (6-9 months)
Our client is looking for a passionate and proactive Community Engagement Officer to help strengthen connections between young people, schools, training providers and community support services across the Northern Rivers, Tweed, and Grafton region.
This is an exciting opportunity to step away from a desk and into the community. You'll spend your time building meaningful relationships, identifying emerging needs, creating opportunities for collaboration, and helping young people access the support they need to thrive.
Working within our Children, Youth and Families team, you'll play a key role in promoting and supporting programs, helping schools and community organisations better support young people facing challenges.
What You'll Be Doing No two days will look the same. You will:
- Build and strengthen relationships with schools, TAFEs, community organisations and local stakeholders across the Northern Rivers, Tweed and Grafton region.
- Promote youth programs and identify opportunities to support young people through workshops, group programs and targeted initiatives.
- Engage with schools to understand the challenges young people are experiencing and collaborate on tailored responses.
- Coordinate and facilitate workshops and group sessions on topics relevant to young people, including wellbeing, resilience, online safety, bullying and school-to-work transitions.
- Identify service gaps and emerging community needs and help develop innovative engagement opportunities.
- Attend community events, forums and networking opportunities to increase awareness of available supports.
- Work collaboratively with Program Workers, enabling them to focus on intensive one-on-one support while you strengthen community connections and referral pathways.
About You You are someone who genuinely enjoys connecting people and building relationships.
You'll bring:
- Experience working with young people and/or community engagement initiatives
- Strong knowledge of local schools, education systems or youth support services
- Confidence engaging with a wide range of stakeholders and building trusted relationships
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- The ability to facilitate workshops, information sessions or group programs
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to work autonomously
- A genuine passion for improving outcomes for young people
If you're someone who can walk into a school, build rapport with stakeholders, identify opportunities and create connections that make a difference, we'd love to hear from you.
