A respected & well-known not-for-profit community services provider is seeking an experienced, hands-on Practice Leader to support Child & Family teams across the Tweed and Northern NSW regions.
This is an opportunity for a strong operational leader to step into a newly redesigned team structure and help embed evidence-based practice frameworks across a high-performing service environment.
We are looking for someone who can hit the ground running, work autonomously, and walk alongside frontline practitioners to strengthen capability, risk assessment, and child-safe practice.
About the Role:
This is not a purely compliance or strategic role. The Practice Leader will work closely with Team Leaders and approximately 12 Case Managers to embed best-practice approaches into day-to-day service delivery.
The role will focus heavily on coaching, reflective practice, case reviews, and supporting teams to apply risk frameworks in real-time practice environments confidently.
Based primarily in Tweed, the role will also involve travel to Lismore approximately once per week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide hands-on practice, leadership, and coaching to frontline teams
- Support the embedding of evidence-based child and family intervention frameworks
- Conduct case reviews, reflective practice sessions, and risk discussions
- Work alongside practitioners to strengthen child-safe practice and decision-making
- Support Team Leaders with operational practice uplift and capability development
- Ensure safe, effective, and consistent service delivery across the program
- Assist in improving workflow efficiencies while maintaining quality outcomes
- Support the implementation and embedding of practice standards across the service
About You: You are an experienced practice professional with strong operational capability and a collaborative leadership style.
You thrive in fast-paced community service environments and are comfortable supporting teams through complex child protection and family intervention work.
Most importantly, you bring demonstrated experience embedding practice frameworks into frontline operations — not just understanding them conceptually.
Essential Experience: - Strong experience within child protection, family intervention, community services, youth justice, or related sectors
- Experience in a Practice Lead, Practice Advisor, Team Leader, Senior Practitioner, or similar role
- Demonstrated experience coaching and developing frontline practitioners
- Strong understanding of child safety and risk assessment practices
- Ability to work autonomously and provide practical, hands-on support
Framework Experience (Highly Regarded) Candidates must have a strong understanding, implementation experience, or embedded practice capability across the following frameworks:
- Safe & Together Training
- SafeSide Prevention Training
- Family Intervention and Risk Frameworks
Safe & Together training and implementation experience will be highly regarded.
Qualifications: Relevant tertiary qualifications in one of the following areas are preferred:
- Social Work
- Social Welfare
- Human Services
- Psychology
- Behavioural Science
- Community Services
Equivalent sector experience will also be considered.
What's on Offer: - 6-month contract opportunity
- 4-day working week with flexibility
- SCHADS Level 6 or 7, depending on experience
- Opportunity to make a genuine impact within a values-driven organisation
- Supportive leadership environment
- Autonomous and meaningful leadership role within a community-focused service
If you are a practical, grounded leader who is passionate about strengthening child-safe practice and supporting frontline teams, we would love to hear from you.
