Temporary Contract – Approx. 6 Months

We are seeking an experienced Legal & Governance Consultant to step into a key advisory role, partnering across the organisation to deliver best-practice governance, legal insight, and compliance support.

About the Role
This is a hands-on and strategic position where you’ll provide expert advice across a broad range of governance and legal matters. You’ll play a critical role in enabling informed, compliant, and effective business decisions while supporting continuous improvement across governance frameworks.

Working closely with internal stakeholders, you’ll balance both strategic oversight and operational delivery, making this an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, complexity, and influence.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide trusted legal and governance advice across a wide range of public sector and operational matters
• Interpret legislation and support its practical application across the organisation
• Draft, review and negotiate commercial documents, contracts and agreements
• Support land and property-related governance matters including leases, acquisitions, and compliance
• Coordinate external legal advice where required
• Oversee and maintain governance frameworks including policies, procedures and delegations
• Manage and respond to information access requests and compliance obligations
• Prepare high-quality reports and advice to support decision-making
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and promote a strong governance culture

About You
You’re a confident and capable governance professional who can operate both strategically and operationally. You bring a strong understanding of legislative frameworks and enjoy working with a variety of stakeholders to influence outcomes.

You will bring:

• A degree in Law (or a related discipline)
• Proven experience in a governance, legal, or public sector advisory role
• Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and regulatory frameworks
• Experience advising on land/property or complex compliance matters (highly regarded)
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and build relationships
• Strong analytical thinking, sound judgement, and high attention to detail
• The ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
