Our client, a respected organisation in the education sector based in Byron Bay, is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to lead their finance function and support the organisation through its next phase of growth.

This is a hands-on leadership role, managing a small, capable team and working closely with senior leadership to ensure strong financial governance, compliance, and strategic decision-making.

The Role

Reporting to the executive team, you will be responsible for:

• Leading and mentoring a small finance team
• Overseeing day-to-day financial operations, including reporting, budgeting and forecasting
• Managing statutory compliance, audits and regulatory requirements
• Providing strategic financial advice to support organisational planning and performance
• Improving systems, processes and controls to ensure efficiency and accuracy
• Partnering with stakeholders across the organisation to support informed decision-making

About You

You will bring:

• Proven experience in a Finance Manager or similar senior finance role
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to develop and support a small team
• Solid technical accounting knowledge and financial reporting experience
• A proactive, solutions-focused mindset and strong attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with non-finance stakeholders
• Experience in education, not-for-profit or a regulated environment will be highly regarded (but not essential)
