We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join a well-established not-for-profit based in Lismore, working alongside a collaborative and experienced finance team.

About the Role

As the Assistant Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth delivery of financial operations, with a strong focus on month-end processes and account reconciliations. Reporting to the Senior Accountant, you’ll be part of a dedicated team of seven in the Finance department, contributing to accurate and timely financial processing that supports the organisation’s broader mission.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform month-end account reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Assist with the preparation of monthly financial statements and reports.
• Support the Senior Accountant with general ledger management.
• Maintain financial records and ensure data integrity.
• Assist with audits and year-end financial processes.
• Collaborate with internal departments to ensure financial procedures are followed.

About You

• Tertiary qualifications in Accounting or related field.
• Previous experience in a similar Assistant Accountant or Accounts Officer role.
• Sound knowledge of month-end processes and reconciliations.
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
• A proactive approach with a willingness to learn and support the team.
• Familiarity with accounting systems and Excel proficiency.
