They are now looking for a Broadacre Cropping Lead to take the reins of their mixed cropping program. This is a large scale mixed farming business that operates year round across both cropping and livestock. The cropping program spans wheat, barley, oaten hay, canola, beans and small seed production, supported by pivot and flood irrigation. As such, some work outside of standard Monday to Friday hours is part of the role, with all additional time recognised through overtime pay and a culture that values the effort.
This is a business that plans logistics exceptionally well, runs two sets of machinery to stay efficient, and has no interest in burning out the crew. What to expect in the role: - Report to the farm owners and organise the planning, review and execution of cropping programs including winter crops, summer crops, pasture and fodder production
- Work closely with the agronomist and spray manager to ensure timing and quality
- Operate tractors, harvesters, mowers, balers and seeders, and lead from the seat
- Irrigation work as required across the program
- Maintain machinery and take pride in the gear
- Contribute to a safe, positive and productive workplace culture with a continuous improvement mindset
- Work alongside a capable team without managing staff directly
- Contribute to the local community and be part of the broader farm culture
What you will bring: - Minimum 5+ year's experience in a cropping role
- A good understanding of agronomy principles including nutrition and chemical application
- Strong machinery operating experience
- Mechanical ability to maintain and service equipment
- Irrigation experience is highly regarded
- A truck licence is preferred, or willingness to obtain one with support provided
- Confidence using farming apps and technology
- A strong work ethic and pride in doing things properly
- Willingness to contribute to the local community
