Key Responsibilities:

• Perform a wide range of diagnostic ultrasound examinations, which may include abdomen, pelvis, OB/GYN, small parts (breast, scrotal, thyroid), and musculoskeletal (MSK) scans, accurately measuring pertinent anatomy and documenting pathology as noted.
• Operate and maintain ultrasound machines to capture clear and accurate images of internal body structures.
• Prepare patients for procedures, explaining what to expect, and ensuring their comfort throughout the exam.
• Show normal and abnormal findings, providing initial observations for review by physicians.
• Accurately record patient details, exam results, and observations in medical records.
• Work closely with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to support patient diagnosis.
• Follow safety guidelines and quality control measures to protect patients and deliver reliable diagnostics.
• Ensure sanitation within the scanning area (ultrasound unit, transducer, gel bottles) and maintain supplies by restocking linen and scanning documents.

Qualifications:

• Current registration and in good standing with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO).
• Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program.
• Certified by Sonography Canada (CRGS) and/or American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS).   
• Demonstrated proficiency in performing a wide range of diagnostic ultrasound procedures, including those listed above.
• Strong understanding of human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.   
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a patient-centered approach.   
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.   
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.   
• Proficiency with relevant computer systems and PACS.
