�� Guernsey, Channel Islands (with occasional travel to Alderney and Jersey) �� Full-time, permanent, 38 hours per week

BTP Recruit is working with a well-established construction materials business in the Channel Islands. They need an experienced Mechanical Fitter to keep their plant and equipment running across their Guernsey sites. It comes with far more scope than most fitter roles, plus help with housing costs to make the move to the island easier.
This is a hands-on role with real ownership. You won't be one of a big team waiting for instructions. You'll be trusted to plan the work, fix the problems and decide how the kit is looked after.
What you'll be doing �� Carrying out planned preventative maintenance and breakdown repairs on fixed plant, such as crushing and screening, conveyors, pumps, and asphalt and concrete production plant �� Maintaining and repairing mobile plant and vehicles �� Fault-finding, then fabricating, welding and fitting replacement parts in the workshop and on site �� Planning shutdowns and maintenance schedules with the site manager, and keeping downtime low �� Managing spares, stock and outside contractors �� Working safely under isolation and lifting procedures, completing risk assessments and keeping maintenance records and logs up to date �� Supervising and mentoring apprentices and junior fitters �� Travelling occasionally to Alderney and Jersey
What we're looking for ✅ Time-served mechanical fitter (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent) with solid industrial, plant or heavy-site maintenance experience ✅ Confident fault-finding on mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems ✅ Welding and fabrication skills ✅ A safety-first approach, with working knowledge of isolation and lifting (LOLER) and work equipment (PUWER) requirements ✅ Happy to take responsibility and work independently ✅ Willing to relocate to Guernsey, with a right to live and work there
