Quantity Surveyor, NEC4, major projects
Are you a Quantity Surveyor that takes commercial ownership of assigned works packages, from inception through to final account?
You'll sit within the project commercial team, reporting to the Senior Quantity Surveyor with functional oversight from the Project Commercial Manager. The work is hands-on and close to delivery: cost control, procurement, NEC4 contract administration, change and valuation — with enough site presence to verify what you're valuing.
What you'll be doing Cost management Supporting cost estimates, cost plans and budgets. Monitoring costs, forecasts and cash flow, and flagging variances and risks early rather than at month-end.
Procurement and contract administration Supporting procurement strategy and tendering for your packages. Preparing and administering tender documentation and contracts — predominantly NEC4 — and running them through CEMAR or equivalent from award through delivery.
Change control Assessing and administering Compensation Events and variations, evaluating cost and programme impact, keeping the record straight, and escalating potential claims before they become claims.
Measurement, valuation and payment Measuring and valuing works against contract terms and actual progress. Preparing and assessing interim applications to contractual timescales, and supporting payment certificates. Valuations that are accurate, auditable and match what's physically been built.
Reporting Cost and commercial data into project reporting, estimates to complete and cash-flow updates, with a clear audit trail behind every cost, change and contractual decision.
Interfaces Working with contractors, clients, Project Managers, Engineers and Package Managers to keep cost, scope and programme aligned, and resolving commercial queries by talking to people rather than escalating first.
Governance Commercial activity that stands up to audit, review and assurance — because on this kind of project it will be looked at.
