About the Role
ALS Environmental, based in Hastings, Hawke’s Bay, have a rare opportunity to join our fantastic close-knit team as a Sample Receipt / Laboratory Technician.
Leveraging your strong customer service skills and attention to detail, you'll engage with clients ensuring to exceed expectations and ensure a smooth process for laboratory analysis.
We will provide training and support and with proven creditability you’ll gain further development opportunities to expand into Laboratory Technician and Sampling responsibilities.
This position requires a minimum commitment of 30 hours per week, operating on a rotating schedule from Monday to Sunday between 8:30 am and 5:00 pm, with seasonal variations (Summer/Winter hours).
Key Responsibilities:
- Liaising with clients (internal and external) regarding sample submissions and related queries
- Ensure samples are representative by following correct sampling techniques and procedures.
- Properly label, store, and transport samples to the laboratory for analysis.
- Maintain detailed records of sampling locations, times, conditions, and sample details.
- Follow all safety guidelines and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) during sampling activities.
- Calibrate and maintain sampling equipment as needed.
- Assist in the development and review of sampling plans and schedules.
- Coordinate with site personnel and regulatory agencies as required.
- Ensure proper handling and disposal of waste materials generated during sampling.
- Monitor and report any issues or anomalies encountered during sampling activities.

- Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems is a plus.
