The role
ALS Geochemistry at our Kalgoorlie facility is looking for someone who is eager to progress their career in a Sample Preparer Supervisor role.
This is a full-time position with the expectation that the successful candidate will be available to work a rotating roster of 4 day shifts, 4 night shifts, followed by 4 days off (10-hour shifts / day).
Training will be provided for the right candidate.
This is a residential role, and you must be residing in or planning to relocate to the Kalgoorlie Boulder Region with current Australian work rights to be considered.
The day to day
The role involves, but is not limited to the following tasks:
- Supervise Sample Prep staff
- Regularly liaise with other section supervisors and management
- Manage staff issues, including morale and performance management
- Ensuring section KPI's are reached and maintained
- Monitor, inspect and review work to ensure deadlines are met and quality standards are achieved
- Maintain acceptable TAT
- Minimizes breakages and wastage
- Training and technical development of section staff
- Optimizing shift hours within the sample prep section
- Ensure the quality of the section is maintained
- Ensure staff adhere to all ALS HSE policies and procedures
The essentials This is a challenging position in which a high degree of organisational skills, time management skills and attention to detail are essential.
Your ability to manage staff and deal quickly, efficiently and fairly with issues in a high volume and dynamic environment will ensure your success in this role.
To be successful, you will have or be able to demonstrate:
- An understanding of the sample preparation process
- Experience in the lab industry
- An exceptional work ethic.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Computer literate.
- Good time management and organisational abilities.
- An understanding of ALS QC principles.
