The role
ALS Geochemistry requires a Laboratory Assistant to join our team in Stafford, Brisbane.
 
Responsibilities include:

• Undertake Laboratory activities which may include but are not limited to the operation of analytical instruments such as AAS, XRF, ICPAES, ICPMS or other as applicable
• Follow applicable analytical methods and published procedures without unapproved deviation, error, or supervision
• Conduct activities to relevant quality standards while throughput targets are met
• Troubleshoot to identify analytical test result anomalies for sample type or behaviour
• Perform housekeeping duties to applicable standards
• Manage consumables so that inventory is not exhausted
• Appropriate equipment/instrument maintenance and/or calibration management to ensure such infrastructure remains fit for purpose.

The essentials

• A tertiary qualification or Diploma in a Chemistry related field is preferred
• Appropriate chemical knowledge
• Appropriate time management principles
• Appropriate mathematical/statistical principles
• Appropriate knowledge of customer-focus principles
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain focus
• Previous or similar instrumentation experience is desirable
• Be able to work within a team environment
• Be able to multi-task and produce accurate results
• Be willing to work shift work
