As a Chemist in our Geochemistry team, you’ll be part of a global network delivering high-quality analytical results that drive decisions across the mining and resources sector. The salary range for this position is $75,000 - $85,000.
The day to day
The Chemist is responsible for:
- Execute position responsibilities and duties in a professional manner that is in compliance with ALS HR policies and procedures.
- Escalate any deviations from the HR policy and procedural requirements via management notification to the HR Officer and/or Senior Management as applicable immediately.
- Competence in the operation and maintenance of advanced equipment/instruments used in the section.
- Conduct scheduled in-house instrument maintenance and troubleshooting of instrument issues.
- Ensure turnaround times and productivity levels are met.
- Highlight and comment on anomalies in results and sample type and behaviour to your supervisor.
- Identify and instigate repeats on samples showing anomalous results.
- Report results of major analytical procedures.
- Assist in method development and validation of test work.
- Required housekeeping duties and controlling consumable stock.
- Supervising and training other laboratory staff as required.
- Other duties as directed by shift Supervisor/Manager.
The essentials Essential Skills, Experience & Knowledge: - B.Sc (Chemistry) or equivalent Diploma (Chemistry).

- Excellent organizational and planning skills.
