ALS Environmental based in Enderley Hamilton are looking for an experienced Chemist to join well established team.
About the Role Are you ready to take your career to the next level?
We are seeking a Chemist to join our Organics team. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering accurate and high-quality analytical results while adhering to ALS's strict quality procedures and safety protocols. The position involves operating and maintaining laboratory equipment, managing documentation systems, and ensuring compliance with operational standards.
Day to Day
- Deliver quality results using sound analytical processes and correct QC interpretation.
- Ensure all analyses and related tasks are completed in line with ALS quality procedures.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments.
- Perform scheduled maintenance, verifications, and troubleshooting.
- Prioritise workloads and ensure turnaround times are met.
- Ensure samples are analysed within required holding times or escalate issues when needed.
- Identify and investigate anomalies in results or sample behaviour.
- Report results that meet method and QC requirements, and document any exceptions clearly.
- Prepare standards for sample analysis.
- Maintain all records and data in an auditable format.
- Control stock levels for consumables—avoid excess inventory.
- Contribute to team training and undertake additional tasks as required.
- Perform general housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and safe lab environment.
What You’ll Need - Relevant tertiary qualification in Chemistry or related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar role/environment.
- Proficiency in laboratory techniques and general computer literacy.
- Strong numerical skills and attention to detail.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Understanding of IANZ certified laboratory requirements.
- Desirable: KTP for a range of Organic methods (e.g., VOC, GC methods such as TPH, PAH, SVOC, PCB, OCP), and/or LC methods (e.g., PFAS, ONOPS, TBT, Acid Herbicides).
- Ability to work independently with sound professional judgement.
- Strong planning and task prioritisation skills.
- Resilience under pressure and the ability to contribute to a team environment.
- Willingness to take on additional tasks as requested by supervisors or managers.
