ALS Food & Pharmaceutical operates a modern laboratory in Rydalmere that is equipped with the latest in analytical technology. We are seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Officer to join a team dedicated to exceeding both internal and external client expectations. This permanent position will be based at our Rydalmere office, reporting to the National Quality Manager in Melbourne. With major facilities in Melbourne, Sydney, and Hamilton, ALS holds a leadership position in the pharmaceutical sector and maintains a strong presence in the Food sector.
The day to day
- Maintaining the equipment calibration and service schedule.
- Performing regular in-house equipment calibration and checks as required.
- Reviewing and approving equipment qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ).
- Making sure that complaints and deviations identified are investigated and resolved.
- Approving changes that may impact the quality of the laboratory analysis and results
- Undertaking system and method internal audits outlined in the ALS Quality Procedures
- and ALS Quality Manual at multiple sites (Sydney at a minimum).
- Conducting client audits of the laboratories and providing a tour of the laboratories
- Reviewing controlled documents (procedures, forms, logs and methods) as required.
- Assisting laboratory operations with the creation of fit for purpose documents
- Communicating and training of personnel to quality related documentation and tools.
- Preparing and chairing periodic quality meetings efficiently with Laboratory Managers (Chemistry and
- Microbiology) to ensure the continued implementation of the quality management system in Sydney.
- Ensuring adherence to local ISO 17025 certification and Pharmaceutical Inspection Convention (PIC/s).
- Supervision of a small team when required

- A high level of computer literacy (training is provided for internal systems).
- Ability to work quickly and accurately with a high level of attention to detail.
- Ability to absorb and retain high levels of information.
- Excellent relationship building.
- Scientific knowledge in Chemistry and Microbiology would be desirable.
- Knowledge of ISO 17025 and PIC/s Guidelines would be a distinct advantage.
