About the Role:
ALS Food and Pharmaceutical operates a state-of-the-art commercial laboratory in Scoresby, Melbourne, equipped with the latest technology. We have a rare and exciting opportunity for a Team Leader in our Microbiology Food Testing division.
In this key team lead role, you will provide technical and operational direction, fostering a safe, collaborative, and improvement-driven work environment. You will manage team workflow, ensuring high performance and accountability, while maintaining exceptional service quality for our clients.
This role is a permanent position, Monday to Friday, 10:30 AM to 6:45 PM.
The Day to Day:
The successful applicants will undertake a range of duties including the following:
- Provide technical and operational leadership for direct reports within the laboratory.
- Manage team workflow, accountability, and performance to ensure high-quality client service.
- Ensure team competency, provide development pathways, and maintain high standards in laboratory testing.
- Oversee productivity and efficiency of direct reports, ensuring work objectives are met.
- Conduct and oversee laboratory testing
- Maintain role-related quality system documentation and ensure direct reports comply with quality requirements to ensure we meet client requests.
- Foster a strong safety & sustainability culture through leadership and active participation in safety initiatives.
- Adhere to the ALS Code of Conduct and Respectful Workplace Behaviour policies.
- Maintaining an excellent standard of occupational health and safety
The Essentials: - Diploma or bachelor’s degree in science (preferably Microbiology).
- 3-5 years of laboratory experience, with proven supervisory experience.
- Strong customer focus, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
- High attention to detail, adaptability, and willingness to learn.
- Strong organizational skills and results-oriented mindset.
