About the Role
The Water Resources Group laboratory at Scoresby VIC is seeking applications for the position of a Full-Time Deputy Team Leader for the Microbiology Department. The successful candidate will be Degree Qualified in Microbiology or equivalent and display an aptitude for leadership.
In addition, be highly experienced in microbiology analysis of waters, soils and solids. The Deputy Team Leader will report to, and work with, the Team Leader in assuming responsibility for their team and the safe, efficient and timely operation of their tasks in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Responsibilities of the role include:
- Provide assistance to the Team Leader with respect to meeting TATs, maintaining technical and staff records, calibrations and PMRs.
- Assist in maintaining and improving the level of safety across the department.
- Ensuring the laboratory operates in a clean, organised and safe manner.
- Meetings and exceeding client contractual service delivery KPIs.
- Provide assistance to the Team Leader to meet sample holding time requirements.
- Assist in managing departmental costs as an acceptable portion of revenue.
- Maintain equipment used for allocated analyses strictly adhere to quality and safety requirements.
- Create value through technical leadership, industry knowledge, automation & innovation.
- Any other duties as required.
The Essentials: - 5 years’ relevant previous laboratory experience.
- NATA signatory in microbiology and pathogen testing.
- Ability to manage high volume workloads to ensure client service delivery and contractual KPIs are achieved and exceeded.
- Ability to identify and implement effective resource management strategies to maximise productivity.
- Demonstrated problem solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A strong continuous improvement approach.
- Genuine leadership and performance management abilities.
- A determined focus to maintain a safe workplace for all employees.
- Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and new clients built on technical leadership and superior service delivery.
