The Position
We are looking for an experienced Physical Testing Laboratory Supervisor to lead our laboratory and sample preparation team in Gladstone. This opportunity has arisen due to internal movement and business growth. In this role, you will oversee all aspects of operations, ensuring the efficient day-to-day running of both the laboratory and sample preparation processes.
As a leader, you will bring proven experience in managing teams of around 15 staff across multiple sites, fostering a positive and motivated work environment through strategic leadership.
Day to Day
- Supervision of staff on multiple shifts
- Oversee and co-ordinate maintaining calibration
- Analysing and reporting to clients for coal samples
- Promote continuous staff development
- Monitor business performance to ensure operations remain within budget
- Maintain a thorough understanding of safety requirements
- Oversee the induction process for new employees, ensuring they receive comprehensive training in all procedures, including safety protocols.
- Manage Profit & Loss (P&L) accounts to maintain financial stability.
- Day to day duties in Sample Prep and Laboratory
Skills/Qualifications: - Tertiary qualification in Science or Coal Industry experience
- 5+ years’ industry experience in Coal industry would be advantageous
- Understanding of business principles
- An understanding of financial reporting
- A strong customer and client focus
- Change management experience
- Strong leadership skills and attributes
- Negotiation, influencing and conflict resolution skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
- Ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines
