We’re looking for an experienced Sales & Business Development Specialist to join our team in Ruakura, Hamilton to play a key role in identifying new business opportunities, fostering client relationships, and expanding our market presence. In this role, you will be responsible for researching market trends, generating leads, preparing quotations and tenders, and maintaining strong industry connections through networking and social media engagement. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a proven track record in a scientific based sales and/or business development role along with excellent communication skills, a client-focused approach, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced setting. The day to day
- Identifying new business leads in the sector.
- Developing new and foster existing client relationships and business opportunities in traditional and emerging markets.
- Identify present and future market trends and new opportunities.
- Business Development – creation of new business from new clients
- Database Maintenance
- Generate newsletters suitable for a range of clients
- On-time delivery of quotations and tenders
- Market exposure and development of strong client relationships.
- Research into market drivers and potential clients
- Assist and at times lead in the assessment of present and future needs, trends, problems and profit opportunities.
- Support to the Business Development Officer as required
- Client Service duties including the preparation of quotations and answering client queries.
- Assisting Client Services Manager and Country Manager in the preparation of tenders, technical bulletins and marketing literature.
- Preparation and follow up of quotations and tenders.
- Assessment market satisfaction and providing feedback to Country Manager.
- Providing a professional image to clients and the market in general.
- Actively maintain industry and market competitor knowledge.
- Networking via key associations and events.
- Market via social media (LinkedIn, Twitter)
- Adhere to the requirements of all standard ALS brands
- Ensuring ALS global policies and directives are adhered to within area of responsibility.
- Assist in the co-ordination of pricing in consultation with client Services Manager.
The Essentials: - A proven track record in a sales role and excellent written and verbal communication skills, ideally in a science-based setting.
- A self-starter able to work autonomously to quickly identify, contact and build professional relationships with new and existing customers
- Advanced skills in the use of MS Office Products
- Demonstrated experience and success in building customer relationships and networking
- Client focused and flexible to client needs
- Strong organisational and negotiation skills
- Professional demeanor
- Ability to identify new business
- An understanding of the financial aspects of the business (i.e. expense control)
- Ability to work to deadlines and under pressure at time.
- Strong quality service attitude and approach
