About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Laboratory Technician (Chemistry) to join our team at our Food & Pharmaceutical laboratory in Rydalmere. This role plays a key part in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our analytical processes. In this role, you will conduct tests aligned with quality standards, organize tasks to maximize efficiency, and meet critical deadlines. Your responsibilities will include identifying and addressing sample anomalies, calibrating equipment and managing consumables. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of relevant experience (a degree or diploma in Chemistry is preferred), strong chemical knowledge, expertise in lab safety, and excellent organizational skills. This role is a 6-month fixed term contract.
The day to day
- Ensuring that analytical procedures and associated tasks which he/she is responsible for are conducted in accordance with the ALS Quality Work Instructions including QA/QC.
- Organising designated tasks to maximise daily efficiencies.
- Ensuring that all tasks and analyses are performed within both the time set down by the supervisor and the relevant analysis standard.
- Highlighting anomalies in results and sample type and sample behavior to the Section Supervisor.
- Performing housekeeping duties as required.
- Calibrating equipment as required by the Section Team Leader and/or the Quality Officer.
- Performing calculations as required when conducting analytical preparations.
- Controlling consumable stock required for the tasks performed.
- Complete proficiency activities as required.
- Other duties, as requested, relating to this position.
The Essentials The Laboratory Technician should possess:
- One year’s relevant experience (a degree or diploma preferred) and, an appropriate level of aptitude depending on the tests to be allocated.
- An understanding of safety precautions necessary while working with samples of unknown hazard
- Good chemical knowledge
- Excellent organisational skills
