We are seeking a proactive Senior Laboratory Technician to ensure spectroscopy instruments (AAS, ICP-MS, ICP-OES) operate efficiently through routine optimization, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Key responsibilities include preparing calibration solutions and client samples, reviewing analytical data, identifying anomalies, and maintaining documentation in line with quality procedures. The ideal candidate will have commercial lab experience in sample preparation and wet chemistry, strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn. A chemistry degree and experience with volumetric glassware, auto-pipettes, and Microsoft Office are advantageous but not essential. This is an excellent opportunity to join a high-performing, fast-paced laboratory team.

The day to day
- Ensuring Spectroscopy instruments are operating at full capacity and minimising preventable downtime due to technical issues
- Routine optimisation and operation of AAS, ICP-MS & ICP-OES instrumentation
- Perform preliminary review of analytical data
- Ability to identify anomalous data and action repeat analysis
- Implementation of innovations
- Preparing calibration solutions and client samples for analysis
- Prioritising daily workloads, performing instrument performance tests, maintaining documentation
- Communicating effectively with staff across multiple shifts
- Ensuring all activities are conducted in accordance with the Quality Procedures Manual
The Essentials: - Successful completion of a chemistry degree desirable but not essential
- Commercial laboratory experience with a working knowledge of sample preparation techniques, solution preparation and wet chemistry
- Curiosity and willingness to learn new skills
- Experience using auto-pipettes and volumetric glassware desirable but not essential
- A high degree of attention to detail
- Possess excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications preferred
