The role
ALS Geochemistry at our Kalgoorlie facility is looking for someone who wants to progress in their career as a Sample Preparer Leading Hand.
This is a Full-Time position with the expectation that the successful candidate will be available for 4 x day shifts, 4 x night shifts and 4 x days off roster.
You will support the shift supervisor in enduring the smooth running of a crew of approximately 20 – 25 people.
Training will be provided for the right candidate. Opportunities for multi-skilling within the department are available, with the potential for advancement into leadership roles.
This is a residential role, and you must be residing or planning on relocating to the Kalgoorlie Boulder Region with current Australian work rights to be considered.
The day to day
This is a leadership role with the following responsibilities:
- Coordinating production for your shift (day, afternoon, or night shift)
- Ensuring shift tasks are completed and coordination of shift hand-over
- Assisting in troubleshooting
- Training and supervising staff
- Assisting with operations when needed
- Training staff in operating mineral sample preparation equipment (sample sorting, drying, weighing samples using a balance and lims system, crushing samples, etc.)
The Essentials The successful candidate will possess the following skills and abilities:
- An understanding of the sample preparation process or experience with ALS systems
- A demonstrable experience in the lab industry
- Ability to work with minimum supervision
- Ability to lead, supervise and instruct team members
- Be flexible and able to multi-task
- Availability to work rotating shifts
- Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills
- A strong commitment to safety and client service
- Excellent attention to detail
This is a challenging role, and although safety and quality of work must be maintained, the ability to work at a pace that suits the demands of the position is essential.
