The Position

Opportunities exist for Coal Quality Testers, to fill roles within our team based at Newcastle.  These roles will include duties within the Analytical Laboratory. If you have a drive to produce quality results and a strong team spirit, we would like to hear from you.


Reporting to the Laboratory Supervisor, responsibilites will include but are not limited to:

• Ensuring that all work is carried out in a safe and efficient manner and to agreed standard operating instructions
• Ensuring that all work complies with national and international standards
• Checking and validating all results to ensure that they are within repeatability tolerances
• Transfer validated results into the reporting system
• Maintain the laboratory and its equipment according to company standards, including calibrations
• A range of analysis including Proximate analysis, Calorific Value, Total Sulfur, Crucible Swelling Number, CHN, Gray King Coke Type, Gieseler, Dilatometer, RD, XRF, IC, ICPMS and others

Requirements:
Full training will be provided, however, to be considered for this position, you will have:

• A strong focus on safety, quality and teamwork
• Good grasp of computers/technology
• Ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines
• Physically fit and comfortable with manual handling duties
• Eagerness to learn and adapt to new systems
• A valid drivers’ licence is required
• Previous coal analysis experience or instrumentation experience (XRF, ICPMS) would be seen as an advantage
• Willingness to work rotating day, afternoon or night shifts will be a requirement
• Ongoing drug and alcohol testing will be a requirement

  
As part of the selection process, a pre-employment medical exam is required, including a drug and alcohol assessment.
