The Position
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented microbiologist to join our dynamic environmental laboratory in Darwin. In this role, you’ll play a key part in maintaining high-quality analytical procedures, ensuring efficient workflows, and delivering reliable results within established standards. Your day-to-day will involve calibrating equipment, managing consumables, performing calculations, and collaborating with the team to identify and address anomalies. The day to day
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Ensuring analytical procedures and associated tasks are conducted in accordance with ALS Quality Work Instructions including QA/QC.
- Organising designated tasks to maximize daily efficiencies.
- Ensuring all tasks and analyses are performed within both the time set down by the Line Manager and the relevant analysis standard.
- Highlighting anomalies in results and sample type and sample behavior to the Line Manager.
- Performing housekeeping duties as required.
- Calibrating equipment as required by the Line Manager and/or the QC staff.
- Performing calculations as required when conducting analytical preparations.
- Controlling consumable stock required for the tasks performed.
- Assisting in other duties as required.
The Essentials The ideal candidate would have the following attributes.
- One year’s relevant experience (a degree or diploma preferred).
- Good microbiological knowledge
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- High level attention to detail.
- Ability to work autonomously or in a team.
- Ability to plan and organise work.
- Judgement and problem solving skills.
- Client service focus.
- Positive attitude to safety requirements.
- Appropriate level of aptitude on the tests allocated
