The Position
As a Coal Sample Preparer, you will be responsible for sorting and processing coal samples, which involves tasks such as weighing, crushing, pulverizing, and preparing them for analysis. This hands-on role requires operating sample preparation equipment, performing physical tests, and ensuring all work is carried out safely and efficiently following standard procedures.

The ideal candidate will have excellent attention to detail, a strong commitment to quality and safety, and the ability to perform repetitive manual handling tasks. Physical fitness, reliability, and a valid driver’s license are essential, along with a willingness to learn and adapt in a high-performance team environment.
  
The day to day

• Sorting bags of samples (weighing up to 16kg)
• Operating sample preparation equipment (weighing scales, crushers, pulverisers, etc.)
• Performing routine manual tasking in a coal processing environment
• Ensuring that all work is carried out in a safe and efficient manner and to agreed standard operating instructions
• A range of physical tests including sample preparation, sizing, crushing, dividing and sample storage

Eligibility
To be eligible to work at ALS you must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or either hold or be able to obtain, a valid working visa.
