The role
Are you detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and ready for a hands-on role in a dynamic environment?
ALS Geochemistry is looking for a Fire Assayer to work in our Fire Assay section at our facility in Malaga, where you'll be at the forefront of precious metal recovery using traditional fire assay techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately weigh samples and add flux reagents as part of the fire assay process.
- Fuse mixtures in a high-temperature furnace (900 - 1100°C) to extract precious metals, including gold.
- Perform cupellation and prilling daily to collect and prepare metal samples.
- Conduct thorough inspections of samples, fusion pots, lead buttons, and prills before laboratory testing.
- Record any anomalies to ensure the accuracy and quality of the assay process.
- Adhere strictly to fire assay safety procedures, proactively identifying and addressing potential safety issues.
We are seeking individuals to join our team at the entry level, with a focus on developing their skills to become fully proficient Fire Assayers. We also value candidates with leadership aspirations or prior leadership experience in other fields, as we are committed to identifying and nurturing the leaders of tomorrow.
Full training will be provided to support your development and career progression.
The hourly rate of $33.53 per hour is a starting rate. In addition, you will receive shift allowances of 15% for the afternoon shift and 20% for the night shift. As you build your experience in this role, you can secure a full-time position and earn higher pay rates. Additionally, penalty rates are paid for any weekend or other overtime (optional) and are added to the hourly rate advertised.
This
Casual position will involve working a
Monday to Friday rotating 8-hour shift: with 1 week each of Days, Nights, and Afternoons. The essentials - Strong attention to detail, ensuring precision in all aspects of the assay process.
