The role
The Environmental Division in Wangara is looking for a Sample Receipt Officer who focuses on client service excellence. The ideal candidate would like to be active and busy, have worked in a repetitive processing or sorting environment, and be able to work quickly and accurately for the duration of the shift.
During the day, you will split your time between being on your feet collecting, signing in, safely carrying sample eskies and being seated at your desk referencing client chain of custody documentation and lodging samples, separating the sample order into the sections to which they will be directed, and barcoding them for distribution to our testing section teams.
This role may sound simple, but you will strengthen your problem-solving, attention to detail, and prioritizing skills while learning about different environmental testing samples and methods.
This position will be offered on a casual basis during the training period, with a transition to a permanent full-time role in February 2025.
The day to day
- Greet and assist clients by phone and in person
- Process incoming sample deliveries into the laboratory, including the sorting and labelling of samples
- Read and understand client Chain of Custody (CoC) documentation, including analytical testing requirements
- Accurately enter information from the client CoC documentation into the ALS LIMS system
- Liaising with clients (internal and external) regarding sample submissions and related queries
- Manually move samples and eskies around the laboratory utilising provided equipment (typically around 15kg)
- Maintaining an excellent standard of occupational health and safety
- Maintaining a clean and tidy work environment
The essentials - Ability to process large volumes of samples and records efficiently and within strict timeframes
- Process and or sorting background in a warehouse environment
- Laboratory or Chemistry experience or qualifications not essential
- Excellent communication, organisational and time management skills
- Good presentation, professional attitude and attention to detail
- Demonstrated reliability and efficiency
- A good level of computer literacy (training is provided for internal recording systems)
- Ability to absorb and retain high levels of information
