About the Role
Join our specialist flooring division and become the person who transforms rough concrete into smooth, durable, and visually striking floors. You’ll operate grinders and polishers, apply mechanical diamond polishing, and prepare surfaces for finishing. You’ll bring surfaces up to high standards of exposure and gloss, working across residential, commercial, and industrial sites. This role will be based in Queenstown.

What You'll Be Doing

• Operating concrete grinding and polishing machinery (hand grinders, planetary / remote grinders)
• Removing coatings, adhesives, toppings, and surface imperfections via diamond tooling
• Selecting and applying the correct diamond grit sequences for desired exposure levels (salt & pepper, moderate, full stone) nzgrinders.co.nz
• Ensuring dust control and vacuum systems to maintain clean & safe job sites nzgrinders.co.nz
• Preparing floors for coating or sealing (surface leveling, smoothing)
• Liaising with clients, site managers, and builders to confirm finishes and schedule work
• Inspecting completed work, troubleshooting issues, and making adjustments to get premium finish
• Maintaining and cleaning equipment, tooling, and workspaces

What We’re Looking For

• 3+ years’ experience in concrete polishing / grinding or related surface preparation work
• Strong proficiency in hard grinding techniques and diamond tooling
• Experience with both residential and commercial floor work preferred
• Ability to deliver multiple exposure levels (salt & pepper, full stone) and gloss finishes
• Familiarity with dust control, vacuum systems, safety protocols
• Good physical fitness and ability to work on hands and knees, manage machinery, and work varied hours
• Strong attention to detail and pride in delivering “showroom-quality” floors
• Good communication skills and ability to work within a team
• Full driver’s licence and reliable transport
