The Sampler will be based in ALS Inspection South Africa (PTY) LTD and will report to the Site Supervisor. The sampler (Inspection) will conduct sampling and inspection activities and also prepare samples as per the relevant procedures or as directed by the immediate supervisor.

Working Conditions:

• Basis: Full Time
• Shift: Monday to Friday
• Overtime hours are applicable for this role.
• Closing Date: 5 November 2025
• Number of positions Three (3)

 
The position will be responsible for:

• To conduct sampling and inspection activities and also prepare samples as per the relevant procedures or a directed by the site supervisor
• These activities may include but are not limited to sampling, packing, labelling, sealing, sizing and weighing of various commodities.
• To record all necessary information with regard to sampling and inspection activities as per relevant procedures or as directed by the immediate supervisor. This may include completion of forms, and / or obtaining photographic evidence of activities.
• To adhere to ALS policies and procedures as well as the requirements of the terminals / ports with regards to the use of personal protective equipment and health and safety requirements.
• To attend the sampling point during the allocated shift and take samples as specified in the relevant sampling procedure or as directed by the Sampling Supervisor.
• To ensure the sample taken is stored in a suitable container to prevent contamination.
• The adhoc sampler needs to be reliable and be able to work for extended periods with minimal supervision.
• To wear adequate protective clothing as provided.

Requirements:
To be successful in this role you will have:

• Grade 12
• Experience is not required as on the job training will be carried out.
• The Shift Sampler should have a secondary education, preferably to matriculation level.
• Good command of the English language.
• Able to prioritize and give accurate feedback on time.
• High standards of attention to detail.
• Ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines.
• Able to anticipate needs and must be responsive to enquiries.
• Inspires and drives excellence in all aspects of work.
• Must be receptive to on-going training as the job requirements vary.
• Be prepared to work on weekends and work overtime as and when required.
• The Shift Sampler is required to have a working knowledge of the equipment used for the taking of and subsequent preparation of samples.
• Good interpersonal and planning skills and effective in working in a multi-cultural environment.
• Ability to anticipate needs and must be responsive to enquiries.
• Interact and communicate in a respectful manner taking into consideration the diverse cultures.
• Must be willing to adhere to company rules, policies and regulation
• Must be computer literate.
• The Sampler needs to be reliable, with sober habits and be able to work for extended periods with minimal supervision.
