About the Role
ALS is seeking a motivated and experienced Information Technology Support Engineer to join our team in Johannesburg, South Africa. The successful candidate will provide frontline IT support to operations throughout the Sub-Saharan Africa region. This role requires a strong technical foundation, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced multinational environment.
Key Responsibilities
Provide Helpdesk and frontline technical support via phone, in-person, and remote assistance
Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network-related issues
Install, configure and maintain computer systems, peripherals, and Group-standard software
Work on IT projects and support operational technology initiatives
Create and maintain user accounts, update asset registers, and maintain documentation
Ensure effective system availability and resolution of support tickets within SLA
Offer end-user guidance and continuous training where needed
Proactively monitor IT systems to ensure operational integrity

Qualifications & Experience
Grade 12 (Matric) essential
IT certifications such as MCSE, A+, N+ or equivalent
Minimum 2 years' IT support experience within a multinational company
Practical knowledge of routers, switches & network infrastructure
Willingness to travel within the region
