Seeking a Facility Safety Manager to provide EHS oversight as Owner's Representative across a mixed-use campus with critical facilities - Austin, TX.
The Facility Safety Manager (Environmental Health & Safety - EH&S) is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining environmental, health, safety, and sustainability programs across a mixed-use campus that includes R&D laboratories, data center operations, and corporate office environments. This role ensures compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations; supports ISO-based management systems; and drives environmental stewardship and ESG-aligned initiatives. The Facility Safety Manager also oversees third-party vendors responsible for facilities management and security services, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient operations.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
- 5-10+ years of experience supporting or managing construction projects of increasing complexity
- Experience in electrical construction management strongly preferred
- Data center or mission-critical facility experience preferred
- Strong working knowledge of project controls, document management, and construction workflows
- Proficiency in Procore strongly preferred
- Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills
Duties & Responsibilities:
EH&S Program Management
- Develop, implement, and maintain site-wide Environmental Health & Safety programs across R&D laboratories, data center operations, and office facilities.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, state, and local EH&S regulations through audits, inspections, and corrective action tracking.
- Lead risk assessments, incident investigations, and root cause analyses to prevent recurrence and improve site safety performance.
- Own core EH&S programs including workplace safety, emergency response, waste management, ergonomics, and environmental compliance.
Environmental Compliance & Sustainability
- Manage environmental compliance programs including hazardous and universal waste, chemical storage and handling, and spill prevention and response.
- Support and maintain Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems aligned with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
- Track environmental performance metrics and contribute to ESG reporting, sustainability initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Partner with facilities teams to reduce environmental impact through energy, water, and waste reduction initiatives.
Facilities & Vendor Oversight
- Oversee EH&S compliance for third-party facilities management vendors, ensuring adherence to site policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Manage contracted security service providers to ensure compliance with safety standards, site protocols, and emergency procedures.
- Partner with facilities leadership to support safe building operations, infrastructure projects, and preventive maintenance activities.
- Participate in facility planning and design reviews to ensure safety and environmental requirements are integrated into R&D and data center spaces. Training, Communication & Safety Culture
- Develop and deliver EH&S training programs for employees, contractors, and vendors, including onboarding and refresher training.
- Promote a strong safety culture through engagement, communication, and visible leadership.
- Serve as the primary EH&S point of contact for site leadership and employees, providing guidance on safe work practices and compliance expectations.
Incident Management & Emergency Preparedness
- Lead incident response and investigation processes, including documentation, corrective actions, and regulatory reporting as required.
- Maintain emergency response plans and coordinate drills to ensure site readiness for credible risks.
- Interface with local emergency responders and regulatory agencies during inspections,
incidents, or emergency events.
