OnPlan is a COSOL owned technology company in the industrial maintenance space. We’ve built a software platform that helps asset managers standardise and automate processes, maintain institutional knowledge, improve reliability, reduce downtime and work safely.
The Role
 
The Senior Software Developer position is an exciting role with OnPlan Technologies - a leader in the mining services industry, delivering enterprise software to big name mining clients and more. This role is a part of a capable development team. Duties include designing, developing, and implementing end to-end software elements as part of our digital technology solutions.
 
You can expect your role to also involve:

• Technical Leadership - Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior/ mid level developers, and QA / non-technical personnel. Lead by example in coding practices, problem-solving, and by developing meticulous, polished solutions.
• Conduct thorough code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices. Play the role of 'defender’ in code reviews; assume new changes are hostile and consider all the ways they could break existing functionality.
• Lead complex technical projects and contribute to technical decision-making
• System Design & Architecture – Design and implement system architectures that are flexible, scalable, and maintainable. Evaluate and implement new technologies and frameworks to improve system performance and functionality. Identify and resolve bottlenecks and other performance issues in the software and systems.
• Quality Assurance & Testing - Write unit, integration, and performance tests as required to ensure the reliability and stability of software. Ensure that software meets high standards of quality and security. Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing software applications
• Continuous Improvement - Continuously improve software development processes, practices, and tools. Stay up-to-date with the latest trends in software development and relevant technologies. Propose and implement improvements to internal systems and development workflows. Project Management – Manage the development and delivery of small projects by monitoring and mentoring a few junior and mid-level developers

 
What You’ll Need to Succeed

• Experience in a similar role with an in-depth understanding of Asset Management
• Expertise in relevant programming languages.
• Full stack capabilities. Expertise in both front (web), and back-end development.
• Strong understanding of database systems and best practices.
• Strong knowledge of version control systems (git).
• Understanding of security best practices and ability to develop secure software
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
• Ability to communicate effectively with non-technical, and external stakeholders.
